Masa Israel Subsidies

Eligibility

Masa Israel provides subsidies to all eligible participants. To be considered an eligible participant, you must:

  1. Be Jewish
  2. Be a graduate of a secondary school and/or between the ages of 18 and 30.
  3. Not have Israeli citizenship OR if you do, you must have left Israel before the age of 14 and have lived outside of Israel for at least four consecutive years prior to receiving your grant.
  4. Have not been on an organized program (including an academic program) of more than four months in Israel since September 2004.
  5. Not, when over the age of 18, have spent a period of four consecutive months in Israel within the 24 month period prior to the start of their MASA program.

Funding Available

The following is correct for programs starting after July 1st, 2016.

For eligible participants aged 20 years or less at the start date of their Masa Israel program

  • All eligible participants receive a universal grant of $500 US.
  • Financially means-tested scholarships are available of up to $10,000US for 10 month programs and $5,000US for 5 month programs.

For eligible participants aged 21 years or above at the start date of their Masa Israel program

  • All eligible participants receive a universal grant of
    • $3,000US for 5-6.5 month programs
    • $3,750US for 7-9.5 month programs
    • $4,500US for 10 month programs
  • Financially means-tested scholarships are available of up to $10,000US for 10 month programs and $5,000US for 5 month programs.
