Over the last four months, I have been participating in a new Masa Israel volunteer program called Solidarity of Nations – Achvat Amim. Looking beyond the worn-out rhetoric of the conflict, this program initially attracted me by allowing me to see the harsh realities on the ground and meet the people who are working for real change in Israel and abroad.
Before I came on my Masa program I didn’t think I would change as a person but just over the past five days I felt my views of issues in the Diaspora and in Israel have started to sway.
Once I finally arrived home, after twenty seven hours travelling time, my mother asked me, “What was the best thing you gained out of your time at Pardes?” to which I answered, “A sense of belonging.”
